Travel to Granada

This period of lockdown due to the Coronavirus has put many travel plans on hold. However, the progress in vaccinations and the consolidation of hygiene measures among the population make us hope, that we will be able to plan a vacation again in a few months. At that moment travel to Granada may be a very a great idea. The city of the Alhambra is an interesting and complete tourist destination, which combines beach and mountains with culture and entertainment.

If you want to travel to Granada for vacation, you can start with a tourist package. The tour packages include both the return flight and the hotel. This makes this form of vacation reservation the easiest and most convenient.

Another alternative is to book the flight and accomodation by yourself, but that will take a little bit of your time, since you need to google travel websites, compare prices to make sure you find the best choices.

Book flight to Granada

Although Granada has a small airport, the best deals are finded when you fly into Malaga International Airport. Most of the low-cost companies from Germany, Great Britain, Holland, etc. like Ryanair, Easyjet, Air Europa, fly from most European countries to Malaga .

Accommodation in Granada

In Granada you can find very central accommodation at a good price.

If you travel with your family, renting an apartment with a kitchen is a very interesting option. If you book in advance you can find very good deals in centrally located apartments. For that Booking.com and Airbnb are good choices to make your reservations, as most accomodations in Granda are part of these networks.

What to look for

The most important advice from me is: price is not everything.

Of course, it is very easy to find bargains and compare prices online, so you can save a lot of money. However, in addition to price, many other factors must be taken into account when deciding.

Consider the quality of the hotel as an important point next to the price. Other factors to take in to account, are the central location, the offering parking included in the price, or if it is suitable for children.

The location of the hotel plays a role, of course.

Concerning location, in Granada it is wise that your accomodation is close to the center, so you can move in the city by foot. And in summer, given the high temperatures in Granada, it is imperative that you have good air conditioning installed (now practically all hotels have it). If you are traveling with children, it is highly recommended that you look for a hotel with a pool if possible.

Transport

If you are going to fly to Malaga airport, I recommend you to rent a car there right at the airport and drive to Granada. There is also a very good combination of buses (Alsina Graells https://www.alsa.es) which take you from Malaga airport to Granada bus station for a very little price (1,5 hour drive).

A car is not required in Granada, so it is ideal if the hotel offers valet parking. Otherwise, most city car parks offer weekly tarifs at a good price.

Public transport works very well in Granada. There is a metro (https://www.granada.info/metro) that runs through the city from end to end. The bus network is very good and has frequent schedules.

Guided tours and excursions

The offer of guided tours in Granada is huge

For example, the Granada tourist train costs 6 euros and will take you around the city for 1.30 minutes. It is designed so that you can easily navigate all areas of Granada, including the labyrinthine and narrow streets of the Albaicín and the Sacromonte. It has a panoramic roof, free WiFi and commentary in 12 languages. The maximum speed of the Granada tourist train is 25 kilometers per hour. This is a very good alternative to get to know the most important monuments of the city in a comfortable and relaxed way. In addition, it is a hop-on hop-off service that allows you to get on and off the train as many times as you want at the indicated stops.

Granada, a city that falls in love

But above all I advise you to let yourself be carried away by the beauty of the city, stroll through its streets. Savor the pleasure of sitting on a terrace, there is a wide range of restaurants, where they offer tapas and exquisite meals which you can enjoy outdoors.

Granada is a city that seduces by its beauty and by the warmth of its people. Beyond the planing, I advise you to try to live in the moment and get carried away by the beauty this magical city.

Relax and enjoy!
